Why do people like to visit places like Charles Dickens’ house? What do we think we can learn about him by looking at his house? What would someone learn about you by looking at your bedroom and the things that you keep about you?

On Monday 16th January, Eva Sajovic and Sarah Butler are coming to the secondary classroom. They are artists-in-residence at the Cuming Museum. Their current project is about collecting, and what objects mean to people. This is what they say:

“We are asking local residents to select objects from their own lives, which they would put into a museum: objects that represent themselves, their home lives, or the history of the area. Eva and Sarah will be making a new exhibition within the museum showcasing these local objects (either their stories, or the objects themselves).”

Is there anything special you have kept? What is it? Where do you keep it? What does it mean to you? What do you think it says about you?

Charles Dickens Storyboard

We were talking about Charles Dickens because it is 200 hundred years since he was born. I made a story board about his life. I made a recorded voice and put it on the story board. Next week we’re going to make a animated film about it.
