Are MRI scans the answer?

Recently people have been fooling a lie detector called the polygraph by doing maths. So scientists from Glasgow University looked to the brain and did some MRI scans.

In the MRI scans which used magnets to do a detailed scan, they found the part of the brain that makes and deals with lies.

When someone lies, the part of the brain that deals with lies lights up on a MRI scan. So some people have suggested that MRI scans could replace the polygraph.

It is not likely it is going to be used because doctors say the MRI scan should not be used in an appropriate way.
